Call for Real-World Case Studies from the Logistics Industry: Inspire the next generation of sustainable supply chain leaders!

FIATA is proud to continue its support for the Global Sustainability Supply Chain Student Competition, an initiative supported by the United Nations Group of Friends of Sustainability and organised by the Global Supply Chain Classroom. This unique competition brings together university students from around the world to address real-world sustainability challenges in supply chains, and FIATA needs your help to shape it!

How can you contribute?
FIATA is calling its Members to propose real-world sustainability challenges drawn from their daily operations for the 2025 edition. These cases will form the core of the competition and offer students the opportunity to develop practical, innovative solutions that balance:

  • Environmental Impact (e.g. reducing emissions, improving energy use, enabling modal shifts)
  • Social Impact (e.g. ethical sourcing, decent work conditions, gender and youth inclusion)
  • Business Impact (e.g. resilience, innovation, digital transformation, cost-efficiency)

Cases may reflect challenges faced at the local or global level, and submissions are welcome from both multinational enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises. All entries must originate from a business or be submitted with direct company involvement.

For more information, access the case guidelines here.

Why participate?

  • Receive fresh insights from emerging sustainability talent
  • Highlight existing sustainability efforts and priorities
  • Help shape the future of sustainable logistics
  • Gain visibility through the competition’s communications and final showcase event

Let your real-world challenge spark global innovation!

📅 Cases must be submitted by 20 August 2025 via email to training@fiata.org.

Promote the Competition and Engage with Local Universities

FIATA also invites its Members to help raise awareness about the Global Sustainability Supply Chain Student Competition to universities in their territory or region. This is a unique opportunity for students in logistics, supply chain and sustainability to demonstrate their skills on a global stage.

Why should students join?

  • Tackle real challenges from international companies
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams guided by faculty mentors
  • Compete for prizes and global recognition, such as participating in the FIATA HQ Meeting.

In 2024, the competition attracted student teams from four continents and highlighted concrete solutions in areas such as decarbonisation, traceability and inclusive supply chains.

By promoting Global Sustainability Supply Chain Student Competition locally, FIATA Members contribute to raising awareness of logistics careers, foster innovation, and support the sustainability agenda in education.

Encourage local universities to apply by 28 September 2025 at info@supplychainsdg.org.
