New Cargo Agency Commissioners Announced
The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA), in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Cargo Agency Commissioners.
The Cargo Agency Commissioner Program was set up in 1992 and resides within the IATA Cargo Agency Program overseen by the Cargo Agency Conference (CAConf). The Cargo Agency Commissioner is an independent arbiter appointed jointly by IATA and FIATA to conduct reviews on decisions and/or actions affecting Agents/Intermediaries and applicants under the Cargo Agency Program and Intermediary programmes, including the Cargo Accounts Settlement System (CASS).
The dispute resolution services are available upon request to IATA registered Cargo Intermediaries, including CASS Associates, and to would-be Cargo Intermediaries, as well as to IATA and its Member Airlines.
The newly appointed Cargo Agency Commissioners are:
- Marco Alvarenga for Area 1 & 2, encompassing Western Hemisphere (excluding the USA), Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Marco has held several leadership positions in IATA over the past 35 years and recently retired from the Association.
- Paul Cheetham for Area 3, encompassing Asia, Australia, and South-West Pacific. Paul is a logistics professional who has served as a Director and Managing Director of various companies within the air cargo industry for over 40 years.
Their appointment will start on 1st January 2024 and the Commissioners can be reached at cac@cac.aero.
On behalf of the industry, FIATA takes this opportunity to welcome the new Commissioners and to warmly thank Brian Barrow for his exceptional and valuable contribution to the industry over an outstanding sixty-years career.
