🎤FIATA Director General Talks Future of Logistics in Swiss Press Club Exclusive

Following the 2024 HQ Meeting, FIATA Director General, Dr Stéphane Graber, gave a concise and revealing 7-minute interview with the Swiss Press Club. Conducted in French, this segment provides an overview of Graber’s views on the evolving landscape of global logistics.

Graber noted that the logistics industry has undergone significant transformations since FIATA’s inception in 1926. Important developments include the mechanisation of transport, the introduction of containerisation in the 1960s, and the establishment of global logistics standards. The current state of the industry and its challenges were also discussed, such as geopolitical tensions, climate change impacts, and economic fluctuations. He emphasised how the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the critical role of logistics and the need for more resilient supply chains.

The interview also touched on FIATA’s role in representing its members—global freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics firms—by advocating their interests and setting international standards. Graber highlighted that being based in Geneva provides a strategic advantage, facilitating direct engagement with international organisations like the United Nations and World Trade Organization. This positioning not only enhances FIATA’s influence but also underscores its commitment to shaping the future of global logistics in an increasingly interconnected world.
