FIATA Working Group Sea seeks delegates' topic proposals for Dubai meeting!


Calling all FIATA Working Group Sea delegates! Have you registered to the upcoming Working Group meeting taking place in Dubai in continuation of the FIATA RAME Field Meeting from 7-8 March? In line with FIATA's continued improvement of its projects and policy work, ensuring maximum relevance for its members' participation, it would like to gather feedback from delegates on which topics they would like to see discussed and should be included on the agenda of the meeting if time allows.

Not yet signed up to this year's FIATA Region Africa and Middle East Field Meeting in Dubai? The event, which will take place from 5-6 March at the Atlantis Hotel on The Palm, will bring together up to 700 top industry experts under the title 'Connectivity, Resilience and Sustainability in Global Supply Chains', under the patronage of H. H Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority - CEO and Founder of the Emirates Group, who will be joined by the FIATA President and Director General as high-level participants and speakers.

The Red Sea situation is unfolding at the heart of FIATA RAME, and FIATA thus strives to ensure that its members stay informed so as to anticipate the disruption going forward, and to help ensure the continued flow of goods in such uncertain times.

FIATA Director General Stéphane Graber emphasised "In this vein, FIATA will convene its Region Africa and Middle East delegates, and the general freight forwarding community in the region, in this opportunity to explore how to build a more resilient supply chain in view of the ongoing crises in the Middle East."

Ms Nadia Abdul Aziz, President of the hosting Association 'National Association of Freight and Logistics' in the United Arab Emirates, said of the meeting's importance: "The UAE is positioned as a distribution and logistics hub for Oman, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain, the CIS, sub-continent, and Africa. The conference will offer a platform for the global community to appreciate the logistics-related investment opportunities within the United Arab Emirates, the GCC. The stakeholders will showcase their latest services for this sector which can also support the businesses to grow and be more efficient." She closed with encouragement, saying "This year will see sustained revenue growth and the sector outperform pre-COVID levels."

FIATA HQ Team welcomes another team member, enhancing the Marketing and Events Unit

FIATA is thrilled to welcome another new HQ Team member, Pritha Prasad, who will join the FIATA Marketing and Events Unit as Marketing Officer.  
 
Before joining FIATA, Pritha worked in market research and coordinated programmes for some of the world's largest food market stakeholders. She also acquired relevant experience in international communications. Pritha stems from a predominantly scientific background, holding a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Biomedicine from Lancaster University and a Master of Science in Cell Biology from the University of Manchester.

Thanks to her experience of working alongside international stakeholders, and working at the World Health Organization, Pritha is familiar with the needs of members in such an international organisation as FIATA, and looks forward to bringing creativity and strategic thinking to the HQ team through her marketing and partnerships work. 

FIATA Logistics Institute updates Minimum Standards document to guide members to reach highest training standards!

FIATA is excited to share that it has updated its FIATA Minimum Standards (FMS) for the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding (FDFF), which plays a crucial role in ensuring excellence in education and professional development within the logistics industry. 

The document, which has not been revised since 2017, incorporates the latest advances and best practices in the field. FIATA is also thrilled to introduce a brand-new module on sustainability to address the evolving landscape of the industry.

FIATA would like to express its sincerest gratitude to the dedicated volunteers from Task Force 1 of the FIATA Logistics Institute for their commitment and expert knowledge, which has been instrumental in shaping the updates. FIATA also appreciates the ongoing support and dedication to excellence in logistics education from its Association Members. For any FIATA Association Members who are interested in delivering the FIATA Diploma, or for any other inquiries or further clarification, please feel free to reach out to the training@fiata.org mailbox.

Deadline to nominate your FIATA Young Logistics Professionals Award candidates extended!


Calling all FIATA Association Members who have not yet had a chance to find that promising candidate from their territory to take part in the 2024 Young Logistics Professionals Award! The deadline to send your nomination forms has now been extended to 15 February!
