TIACA Executive Summit ends in celebrations
FIATA took part in the TIACA Air Cargo Sustainability Awards on 22-23 March, where jurors, including FIATA’s Andrea Tang, were tasked with evaluating submissions on the extent that their projects maximise the goals of sustainability. She commented: ‘The air cargo and logistics industry is on the precipice of a monumental transformation, and it is ever crucial that industry associations come together to support the industry to be more resilient as it recovers and rebuilds for the future.’ She continued: ‘Following its exchanges during the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Dublin, FIATA, together with IATA and TIACA, again got together at the TIACA Executive Summit 2022. The three industry associations discussed their respective programmes in support of sustainability goals – People, Planet, Prosperity, Innovation – with the aim of strengthening their collaboration in these respective areas. The exchanges demonstrated various synergies and possible areas for collaboration which will be further discussed and reported on at the FIATA World Congress 2022 in Busan, South Korea.’
Tang pushed home that ‘FIATA, with its commitment to finding innovative solutions to address sustainability goals, was pleased to have a spot on the judging panel for the TIACA Sustainability Awards 2022. Following the jury deliberations, FIATA congratulates United Airlines as the Corporate winner with their Eco-Skies initiative, and XFret as the Start-up/Small Business winner, with their innovative approach to maximising capacity in passenger aircrafts.’
The key topics discussed included the impact of recent crises over the past two years on the supply chain and innovation in air cargo to achieve speed, reliability, transparency and sustainability. They also discussed next generation leadership, at a time when there is a lack of young leaders ready to take the reins.
Biden-Harris Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation announce FLOW
The Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) has been announced as a supply chain information sharing initiative to help speed up delivery times and reduce consumer costs. It aims to address challenges of the supply chain in the short and long term.
FIATA has for many years advocated for this motion and is pleased to see movement in the right direction. As shared in FIATA's Best Practice Document, FIATA further encourages more data sharing in the maritime supply chain which would lead to greater transparency of information related to the movement of containers from vessel to terminal to the next mode of transport.
For more information on this, and how FIATA has been collaborating with other maritime actors on digitalisation please contact legal@fiata.org.
