The 2026 FIATA Statutory General Meeting (SGM) took place online on Friday, 26 June 2026, bringing together 104 registered participants from FIATA's Association Members across the globe. The annual Statutory General Meeting is the Federation's principal governance gathering, at which Association Members review the work of the preceding year and take the formal decisions that guide the Federation.

Over the course of the meeting, Members reviewed and approved the Minutes of the 2025 Statutory General Meetings, reviewed the work undertaken in 2025, and approved the FIATA Annual Report 2025.

Members also approved the Presidency's decision to admit UPRAD (Togo) and UIFA (Uzbekistan) as Association Members, confirmed the Extended Board's decision to entrust ILFA (Indonesia) with hosting the 2028 FIATA World Congress, and approved the 2025 financial statements, the auditors' report, and the 2027 budget.

Looking ahead, the meeting outlined the Federation's priorities for the remainder of 2026, including the launch of a new Association Members' Forum and preparations for the 2026 FIATA World Congress in Milan, which will mark the 100th Anniversary of FIATA.

Approval of the 2025 FIATA Annual Report

The General Meeting approved the 2025 FIATA Annual Report, presented to Association Members as part of the Statutory General Meeting Brochure, pursuant to Article 5.2.2(c) of the FIATA Statutes.

The Annual Report offers a comprehensive account of the Federation's activities and achievements over the past year, reflecting the breadth of FIATA's work across its seven priority areas, from digital trade solutions and regulatory engagement to professional development and industry intelligence. Among the milestones reached over the course of the year were FIATA's elevation to full consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the adoption of the Negotiable Cargo Document (NCD) Convention by the United Nations General Assembly, and the continued growth of the electronic FIATA Bill of Lading (eFBL).

The report stands as a key point of reference for Members, offering a clear overview of the Federation's work and the value it delivers to the freight forwarding community. Association Members and Individual Members are encouraged to explore the full report.

Admittance and Exclusion of Association Members

As part of its core governance responsibilities, the General Meeting took decisions on the admittance and exclusion of Association Members, in accordance with Articles 4.2.1 and 5.2.2(b) of the FIATA Statutes. Under these provisions, such decisions are taken by resolution of the General Meeting and are final.

Following the applications received and the corresponding review of any objections, FIATA is pleased to welcome two new Association Members to the Federation:

  • Union Professionnelle des Agréés en Douanes au Togo (UPRAD)

UPRAD is the national professional association representing licensed customs brokers and logistics operators in Togo. The organisation has 244 members. Its mission is to promote high professional standards and contribute to the development and modernisation of freight forwarding and logistics services in the country.

  • Association of International Freight Forwarders of Uzbekistan (UIFA)

UIFA is an industry group that represents logistics, freight, and supply chain businesses in Uzbekistan. Its mission is to regulate the forwarding industry in Uzbekistan, protect the rights of its members, and foster smooth international transit and trade along Eurasian and Silk Road trade networks.

FIATA warmly welcomes UPRAD and UIFA to the global freight forwarding community and looks forward to working closely with them in the years ahead.

The General Meeting also approved the exclusion of an Association Member that no longer met the requirements of membership under the FIATA Statutes. In addition, the exclusion proposals concerning a number of other Association Members remain under review and were not the subject of a decision at this meeting.

Confirmation of the 2028 FIATA World Congress Host

The General Meeting confirmed the decision of the Extended Board to entrust the organisation of the 2028 FIATA World Congress to the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ILFA), pursuant to Article 1.3.5 of the FIATA Congress Protocol. The Congress will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing the Federation's flagship annual event to South-East Asia.

The choice of Jakarta brings the FIATA World Congress to one of the most dynamic logistics markets in the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting the growing importance of the area to global trade and supply chains. As a major gateway for maritime and air freight, the city offers a fitting setting for the global freight forwarding community to gather, exchange and shape the priorities of the sector.

FIATA looks forward to working closely with ILFA in the period ahead, and to welcoming Members, partners and industry leaders from around the world to Indonesia in 2028.

Approval of the 2025 Financial Statements and 2027 Budget

Under the financial matters on the agenda, the Treasurer presented the 2025 financial statements, followed by the report of the External Auditor, who acknowledged the efforts undertaken to ensure transparency and accountability in the Federation's financial management.

Following these presentations, and having received comprehensive written responses providing full transparency and detailed explanations to all questions raised by Members regarding the accounts, the General Meeting expressed its satisfaction with the information provided and approved the 2025 financial statements, in accordance with Article 5.2.2(d) of the FIATA Statutes.

The General Meeting further granted discharge to the Members of the Presidency, formally approving the annual reports and accounts and releasing the elected members from liability for the exercise of their functions during the relevant period. This step marks the members' acceptance of the Federation's financial management over the past year.

Finally, the General Meeting approved the 2027 Budget. Prepared using a prudent and realistic approach that reflects current trends and known developments, the budget maintains the Federation's continued strategic focus on digital transformation, enhanced member engagement and the expansion of services to Association Members, ensuring that FIATA remains well positioned to deliver value to its membership in the year ahead.
